Kerry Crusaders
Kerry Crusaders are a running and walking group based in Listowel County Kerry.
A sister group to the Clare Crusaders which was founded by Howard Flannery who went about setting up a clinic to help kids with special needs as no grants were forthcoming. The Clinic in Barefield, County Clare now helps over 200 kids weekly and it is completely funded by fundraising through walking, running and cycling.
Sadly, Howard lost his life while training for a triathlon. He paid the ultimate price for a cause he so strongly believed in.
Today, however, his crusade continues as strong as ever in Clare and now Kerry have joined the ranks in doing our very best to help kids with special needs in Kerry.
We are a small but strong unit in Kerry and we are here to stay. We’re not a hardcore athletics club and we welcome people of all ages and abilities. Some of us run marathons, others enjoy the chance to get out of the house for an hour, stroll around the town, get some fresh air and catch up on the gossip with friends.
We welcome new people all the time and love to get people moving in the right direction to helping them make a change for themselves and others. We generally meet in the car park outside Listowel Community Centre.
