Higgins Waste & Recycling Listowel

A warm welcome to Higgins Waste Listowel, V31 KN34! We opened on the 14th October 2025. Built on the foundations of our Tralee branch — which has been serving Kerry for 40+ years — the Listowel centre was designed to build on that experience and bring the same trusted service closer to North Kerry. We are a family run business with the goal of reducing landfill waste and building sustainable waste disposal systems.

Unlike our main branch in Tralee, we currently operate as a drop-off yard service only, meaning customers bring their waste directly to us at our Listowel site. We accept customers from anywhere. We accept mixed waste, recycling, organic, bulky, glass, rubble, timber, paint, metals and more. We are a licensed waste disposal NWCPO permit holder so you can be at ease knowing everything we take is handled with care and respect for our environment. We can take anything except for harmful or hazardous chemicals. We are working on permits and storage for kitchen and motor oils and are in the process of obtaining permits for Certificates for Tax.

Pricing is charged per bag for smaller loads, with larger loads or anything over 3 bags of waste being more economic on the weighbridge. We accept cash, card, cheque and Listowel.ie vouchers.

Materials Accepted

Free of charge: cardboard (perforated only — egg cartons and cereal boxes fall under recycling which is chargeable), glass bottles, scrap metal, standard electrical items, food cans, batteries and Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE).

Chargeable materials: newspapers and magazines, plastic bottles, flat glass, beverage cans, textiles and paint (€1 per litre; additional charge applies if paint is presented in a plastic container). Please see the price list above for bag, tonne and bulky item charges. Please note a €10 surcharge applies to commercial or very large electrical/electronic items.

Bank Holidays

If a public holiday falls within our working week, we will post an update on our Facebook page at least one week in advance letting you know our operating hours for that period. Keep an eye on our page so you never make a wasted trip!
