SUPPORT LOCAL BY SHOPPING LOCAL IN LISTOWEL

Every local purchase is a golden ticket is the message from Listowel Business & Community Alliance this Christmas. Before you go online, support our community by shopping with our wonderful local businesses and retailers.

The official Christmas in Listowel Launch is set for Saturday December 2nd from 4pm, which will see the square come alive with music from Willy Wonka which is this year’s Christmas theme. A special request has also been sent to Santa to see if he could drop by to meet the children along with craft and food stalls. There will be something for all ages!

Listowel Business and Community Alliance are again looking forward to Lighting up Listowel in conjunction with Kerry CoCo and our sponsors. We had a fantastic response last year to the newest Book Motif installation which is a beautiful edition. A word of thanks also to Gas Networks Ireland for their continued sponsorship of the Giant Christmas bauble light installation which will be on display in the Square.

Damien O’Mahony, of Listowel Business and Community Retail Group “The Listowel Voucher has gone from strength to strength in recent years and is a firm favourite for Christmas presents and supports a multitude of businesses. 100% of the voucher value goes back to the retailer when spent – a fantastic support for local businesses. We also look forward to our upcoming Super Shopping Sundays on Dec 10th & 17th with retailers across town opening from 12noon.”

Rose Wall, Chairperson of Listowel Business and Community Alliance, has said “We wish all our members a successful Christmas season especially those newly opened and would like to issue a little reminder that the Alliance is always open to new members! Where possible we urge people to Think – Shop – Buy – Local!”

“A lot of work goes on behind the scenes and we would like to acknowledge and thank local businesses and organisations for their support including Cathaoirleach of the Listowel Municipal District Aoife Thornton and her fellow Elected Members, KCC staff, John Galvin, Declan O Mahony, Listowel Town Manager John Kennelly, Pierse Fitzgibbon Solicitors who greatly assist by running the voucher scheme, and the Alliance committee itself.”

Lastly, “We are busy planning ahead for 2024! We look forward to welcoming many new visitors to Listowel and showcasing what Listowel & North Kerry has to offer. Our calendar of festivals and events is expanding year on year – Revival, Listowel Races, Listowel Food Fair, International Storytelling and Listowel Writers’ Week.”

As always, we are grateful for the continued support of Kerry County Council. To help support local retailers and businesses, there will be free street parking:
• Dec 2nd to early January
• Subject to a 2-hour limit.
In addition, visitors can avail of more the 400 off street free car parking spaces across the town.

Listowel Business and Community Alliance wants to wish everyone a safe and joyful Christmas and we look forward to welcoming everyone again in 2024.
