From its rugged Wild Atlantic coastline and its scenic fertile lands; to its striking market town capital, famous resort and villages steeped in heritage, North Kerry’s varied jewels are finally being brought together in a single brochure designed to capture the imagination of the world beyond.
‘North Kerry: Wilder at Heart’ was launched this week in Listowel in a joint venture that sees the Listowel Business and Community Alliance, the Ballybunion Community Forum and other local groups around the region coming together for the first time ever in such a move.
The brochure is a stunner, bringing fantastic photography capturing everything from the cliffs of Ballybunion to treasures like Carrigafoyle Castle in Ballylongford to rightful prominence.
It hits public awareness just as the new Greenway is set to come on stream in what is hoped will be exactly the kind of promotion a prospective visitor couldn’t say ‘no’ to.
For the groups behind it, Wilder at Heart is about demolishing any unconscious thinking out there about that half of the county in which tourism is less developed. “We want to wake people out of the notion that there’s nothing to see and do here in North Kerry – that couldn’t be further from the truth,” Ballybunion Community Forum Chairperson Donal Liston said on the launch.
“There is so much to see and do here in North Kerry, the area is home to so many wonderful places of scenic, cultural and historic interest, with a coastline and countryside coloured by centuries of history. Starting with this brochure, we at the Ballybunion Community Forum, along with the Listowel Business and Community Alliance, and other local organisations, will now work together to further promote the North Kerry area, home to so many great beaches, tourist attractions, museums, festivals and so much more.
Listowel Business and Community Alliance Chaiperson Rose Wall was also emphatic on the attractiveness of the region: “This fabulous brochure is showcasing some of the beauty of North Kerry and what it has to offer. North Kerry has many wonders, delicious food and fun for all the family to explore. We, in Listowel, look forward to welcoming the many visitors to our lovely town, winner of Ireland’s Tidiest Town in 2018, and a place where stories begin.
“The Listowel Alliance feel it is vital for us to work together with the Ballybunion Forum, and other groups in the area, so we enhance the region’s tourist offering and encourage more people to visit North Kerry as a whole.” The new brochure is now available from tourist offices in Listowel and Ballybunion, while a digital version of the brochure is also available here
