Whats on around Listowel

Listowel Celtic Arts Weekend- June 11th to 14th 2026

This June, Listowel will become a meeting place for Celtic art in all its forms.

From 11th–14th June 2026, the International Day of Celtic Arts Weekend (IDCA) brings together artists, craftspeople, historians, and enthusiasts from Ireland and across the world for four days of exhibitions, talks, workshops, and live events.

Hosted by Kerry Writers’ Museum, the programme offers a rich mix of experiences — from early Celtic art traditions to contemporary practice. Visitors can explore an international exhibition of Celtic art, attend expert-led presentations, take part in hands-on workshops, and enjoy performances rooted in Ireland’s musical heritage.

A highlight of the weekend is the rare opportunity to view the Book of Ballykinlar, a unique and moving artefact created by internees during the War of Independence, on loan from the Irish Military Archives for this special event.

Participants and speakers travel from across Ireland, the UK, Europe, and beyond, making this a truly international gathering — while remaining firmly grounded in the creative spirit of Listowel.

Whether you have a deep interest in Celtic art or are simply curious, this is a chance to experience a living tradition shaped by skill, history, and shared knowledge.
